Save energy — start from yourself!

Today, December 22 is Power engineers’ day in Russia. GCE Group, global energy efficiency consultant assures that it is not difficult to save energy — just start from yourself.

Energy saving and care about natural resources are priority tasks for people because of energy resource shortage, rising extraction cost and global ecological issues.

Sustainable energy use is important not only for people who want to save nature, but also for those who want to save money.

Alexander Moskalenko, GCE Group President: “Our company knows one experiment when a building was subdivided into two areas. Employees concentrated in the first area were aware of energy saving opportunities, the rest of employees in the second part — no. As a result, savings in the first part of the building reached 15%! Awareness raising of energy saving is an integrated education for people”.

These simple rules will help you to save energy and take care of nature:

1. Use modern energy saving lamps instead of incandescent lamps. They are more expensive but have a long service life. Moreover, such lamps can save up to 3000 kW/h annually (for 10 lamps) and you can save approximately 150 EUR.

2. Disconnect equipment which you don’t use (e.g. mobile phone charge, TV, washing machine, desktop, video player, etc.). Equipment consumes electrical energy even in a sleep mode. You can save up to 1500 kW/h annually if you disconnect your electronics.

3. Pay your attention to energy efficiency class of equipment before purchasing. Consumer electronics of A and B classes are efficient, while equipment of E, F and G classes is energy intensive.

4. Use double-rate electricity meter instead of a single-rate one — you can save money which you pay for electrical energy.

5. Remove scum from electric kettles. Scum layer is a heat insulator reducing heat transfer from the heating element.

6. Use ladder more often — you will save energy consumed by the elevator and keep fit.

Save energy! Wish you efficient Power engineers’ day!
